Job Description

What police officers do is to enforce the laws of the state and protect the lives of people and also to arrest people that break the law also responding to emergency and non-emergency calls from the public and patrolling assigned areas of their community on the lookout for anything unusual. Police officers also prepare cases to testify in a court of law on behalf of the prosecution.

Salary Range

Police officers usually make $27.40 per hour, median pay a year is $56,980 per year. It also usually depends on where you live because other places pay more than some because of the higher rates of crime in that place.

Education Required

A high school diploma is necessary to to become a police officer but if you want to advanced in your positions like get promotions and rank up then it would be helpful for you to go to college and get a degree in criminology or criminal justice which would help you and make your application look even more appealing and better.

Environment

You’ll mostly be working outside patrolling your assigned area but sometimes you can be working inside in an office filling out paper work, So work environments can vary. Environments can be dangerous depending on the place or area you are assigned.

It’s a growing field but it’s a slow growing field, its projected to be up by 5% which is good.
